The Experience

A man walking across an Eastern Sierra meadow toward snow-capped peaks
“An awesome time outdoors with other men to slow down from the craziness of the world, while at the same time experiencing great and fun activities.”

Wild Breath retreats are immersive, wilderness-based experiences facilitated by trained leaders with outdoor and group-facilitation experience. All the activities support the purpose of building strong community while spending time outdoors in nature. These are educational personal-development programs, not clinical or medical services.

What the Retreat Includes

What to Expect

Retreats typically span 3.5 days in the Eastern Sierra wilderness. Participants will engage in group hikes, facilitated conversations, wilderness skills practice, shared meals, and mindfulness exercises. Each day follows a rhythm designed to balance physical activity with reflection and rest.

Expect to disconnect from technology and reconnect with nature, self, and community. You'll sleep under the stars or in tents, share cooking and camp duties, and participate in group processes that encourage openness and personal growth.

Facilitation Approach

Our facilitators bring experience in outdoor leadership, group dynamics, and personal development practices. They create safe, supportive spaces for authentic sharing and learning, while respecting each participant's boundaries and pace.

The facilitation style is collaborative and participant-centered, emphasizing skill-building, self-discovery, and peer support rather than prescribed outcomes. This is an educational experience focused on growth and community, not therapy or treatment.

Meals & Camp Life

Meals are simple, nourishing, and prepared together. Participants share in cooking, cleanup, and other camp tasks, fostering teamwork and shared responsibility. Dietary accommodations can be made with advance notice.

Camp life follows Leave No Trace principles, ensuring minimal environmental impact and respect for the wilderness areas we use. Participants will learn and practice responsible outdoor ethics throughout the retreat.

Rhythms of Reflection

Each day includes structured time for individual reflection, group dialogue, and skill-building activities. Morning circles set intentions, afternoon sessions explore themes or practice skills, and evening gatherings create space for sharing and integration.

These rhythms support participants in moving from experience to insight, building awareness and resilience through both active engagement and quiet contemplation.

Scholarships Available: Participants Pay Little or Nothing

Wild Breath is committed to ensuring that financial circumstances never prevent participation in our charitable programs.

100% of participants receive scholarships

These scholarships cover all program costs, including food, equipment, and shared logistical expenses. They are awarded to ensure our programs remain accessible to individuals who would otherwise be unable to participate.

Participant contributions are not intended to generate profit and are used solely to offset direct program expenses. Wild Breath operates on a sliding-scale model, and no individual is turned away due to inability to pay.

Scholarship assistance is funded through charitable contributions and grants and is awarded based on financial need and program availability. All funds received are used exclusively to further Wild Breath's charitable and educational purposes.

How This Aligns With Our Charitable Mission

Wild Breath exists to serve a broad charitable class by providing outdoor, educational, and community-based programming that promotes personal growth, resilience, and leadership in adult men.

By prioritizing scholarship support and financial accessibility, Wild Breath ensures that its programs serve the public good, rather than a limited or fee-based audience. Our approach reflects our commitment to equity, inclusion, and responsible stewardship of donated funds.
